‘Greta Thunberg never talks about the science’: Anti-Greta sensation Naomi Seibt

Self-proclaimed “climate realist” and “anti-Greta Thunberg sensation” Naomi Seibt says while she doesn’t deny the climate is warming, “the effect is absolutely insignificant”.

Ms Seibt said the world “did benefit from some amount of warming” because it encouraged “better crop yields” which she said allowed the earth to sustain a growing population.

According to Ms Seibt, Greta Thunberg’s rejection of the European Union’s proposal of zero net emissions by 2050 was “just another way to spread panic”.

“I have never heard her talk about the science so how is she supposed to know anything about the perfect political measures to take when it comes to climate change,” Ms Seibt told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“We need cheap and reliable energy” and “we cannot drive people into eco-depression, eco-anxiety and energy-poverty.

“It’s fantastic if we invest in research on alternative energy sources” but we must be careful not to “demonize alternative sources like nuclear energy,” she said.

Patrick Moore – The Sensible Environmentalist

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore discusses how we need to look at science and environmentalism together and not just view the sensationalism activism groups show the media. After leaving Greenpeace Moore has gone on to become what he calls a sensible environmentalist and explains how Greenpeace and other likeminded organizations have moved away from using science as a basis for their projects.

Unstoppable Solar Cycles – Full Video

When Erik the Red first arrived in Greenland, the fertile green land was perfect for farming. But within a few centuries the thriving Viking settlements had been wiped out by global cooling. The Little Ice Age is one of many climactic eras that have been scientifically identified. Since about 1850 the earth has been in a warming period.

What is the role of carbon dioxide in warming? The best available records of temperature and atmospheric CO2 over the past 650,000 years indicate that the earth’s temperature always rises first, followed by a rise in carbon dioxide. If a warmer earth leads to increased levels of CO2 – and not the other way around – can humans’ use of fossil fuels be the cause of global warming? Shouldn’t this critical question remain open to scientific inquiry?

How the sun affects temperatures on Earth

The sun is going through a stage known as a solar or Maunder Minimum.

This is where the solar activity that ignites solar flares or sun spots has decreased. It’s a normal cycle and one that has been linked to the mini ice age that lasted more than 50 years starting in the mid-1600s.

According to space weather since 2015, the number of days without a recordable sun spot has been rising year over year. NOAA, NASA and others all appear to agree the sun is entering a solar minimum phase.

What it means is open to interpretation because as Professor William Happer pointed out when I asked him about the growing number of people and agencies that suggest a solar minimum could lead to a cooling off period, he directed me the Danish proverb: “It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future.”

It has been suggested that mathematics can establish patterns and back them up with empirical evidence to support a prediction. We reached out to Professor of Mathematics Valentina Zharkova of Northumbria University, one of the first people to raise awareness of the decrease in solar activity, for a Conversation That Matters about the sun, its reduced activity and her reading of the impact it will have on temperatures on earth.
